Cynthia Hamar

Cynthia Hamar is a Métis folk musician from Alberta known for her menacing, powerful, and contemplative music. With four studio albums to her name, Hamar has showcased her dedication to her craft. She holds a Bachelor of Music with distinction from MacEwan University, majoring in Recording and Production.

Hamar’s music has taken her across Canada, with notable performances at the National Music Centre, Calgary Folk Fest, Sasquatch Gathering, Pembina River Nights Festival, Jasper Folk Festival, and a live performance on City TV Edmonton. She has also participated in various artist residencies and showcases.

Her latest album, “Joint & Marrow,” produced by Paul Johnston and featuring prominent Edmonton and Toronto musicians, was released on Neon Moon Records in September 2022. The album has received significant radio play, charting on earshot! and CKUA, and earned a nomination for the Canadian Folk Music Awards 2024 as Indigenous Songwriter of the Year.

Brianna Lizotte

Brianna Lizotte is a fiddler currently living in Edmonton Alberta. She grew up in a household where music was played, whether it was from home videos or kitchen parties. At the age of 10, most of the musicians in her family passed away, so she took it upon herself to keep the music alive. This has led her to many opportunities such as competing twice in the Canadian Grand Masters, music festivals across Alberta, and traveling to Rome to support the Metis delegates during their meetings with the Pope in 2022.

Apart from performing, Brianna can be found teaching fiddle lessons, Metis history through music and dance workshops, and in studios recording for documentaries, EPs, singles, etc. Recently graduating from MacEwan University’s Bachelor of Music program, she looks forward to developing her voice within the Canadian music scene
