At Métis Crossing, we’re pleased to offer a wide variety of immersive experiences that allow guests to better connect with and experience our distinct Métis culture.
Metis Crossing’s interpretive mission is to showcase the rich culture and traditions of the Métis community through immersive and experiential education. Our aim is to foster deep emotional connections with visitors while preserving and sharing traditional practices and skills.
Our seasonal signature experiences offer visitors the opportunity to participate in guided cultural interpretive experiences, sharing the distinct Indigenous story of the Métis people in an interactive way. We also offer daily experiences included in the price of your admission to Métis Crossing.
Signature Experiences
Our Signature Experiences provide opportunities for unique experiences on the land at Métis Crossing, sharing Métis stories with visitors in an interactive and experiential way. These Signature Experiences are geared towards individuals of all ages, and change seasonally.
Our Through The Eye of the Hunter experience is a two-hour immersive Indigenous experience telling the story of survival on the land and the Métis way of life within the Victoria District National Historic Site. In this experience, you will spend time on a historic Métis River Lot, practice your archery skills, and discover the diversity of plants and animals that call Métis Crossing home.
The Visions, Hopes and Dreams at Métis Crossing Wildlife Park offers guests a rare opportunity to experience the beauty of Métis heritage species. Our wildlife park is home to rare white bison, wood bison, plains bison, elk, and Percheron horses. During the tour, you will learn about the significance of these heritage species to the Métis people and have the opportunity to enter the paddocks alongside the animals for an intimate view of the animals.
Our Meet the Métis experience is an immersive guided tour, introducing you to Métis crossing and the Métis peoples through art, dance, story telling, nature and traditional practices. With our Métis interpreter, you’ll get a tour of traditional lands and homes, an overview of traditional seasonal practices and their importance to the Métis people, demonstrations of art, stories, and history, and the chance to participate in traditional arts and crafts.
Daily Admission
In addition to our signature experiences, we are pleased to offer daily experiences included in the price of general admission. These activities include historical exhibits, art installations, and daily Métis experiences.
As part of the general admission experience, you will be able to participate in:
- Self guided exploration of the Cultural Gathering Center and our 688-acre traditional Métis river lot and farmyard.
- Cultural interpreters available for guests to learn from, ask questions, and share experiences with.
- Interpretive Displays, Nature Trails, Historic Village.
- River lot playground
- Métis Crossing Gift Shop
Daily admission is not required to visit our restaurants.
