Getting Here
The Site
Situated on 688 acres of historic river lot farms, Métis Crossing has lots to see and discover. The original purchase in 2001 was 512 acres, and our holdings grew to 688 acres in 2019. In 2024, an additional 1,125 acres were purchased around Métis Crossing for the operations of the Métis Crossing Ranch, and these lands are now officially recognized as an IPCA (Indigenous Protected and Conserved Area).
Métis Crossing is Alberta’s first major Métis cultural destination. Created as a place for Métis people to share Métis stories, we welcome everyone to join us for cultural experiences and an opportunity for reconnection with one’s own story.
Métis Crossing offers a variety of accommodations, suiting the needs of our visitors, including camping, trapper’s tents, the Lodge at Métis Crossing, and luxury sky-watching domes. Métis Crossing is a place of joy and hope, sharing the distinct Indigenous story of the Métis people through experiential Métis cultural experiences.

Can I bring my dog?
Yes, we have two dog-friendly Domes available. Advance notice is required when booking a dog-friendly accommodation, and a dog fee of $30 per night applies for overnight stays, with a maximum of one dog per Dome or Cabin.
Dogs must be well-behaved, house-trained, and under control at all times, and leashes are required outdoors. Please clean up after your dog and dispose of waste in the designated bins. Dogs may not be left unattended in rooms unless safely crated, and we kindly ask that they stay off all furniture and bedding.
Indoor dog access to the Lodge, Cultural Centre, or other venues is not permitted, and dogs are not allowed on trails near the Wildlife Park. Guests must bring their own waste bags, water bowls, and other dog essentials.

Yes, the Lodge and Cultural Gathering Centre are designed for accessibility.
Where are the nearest gas stations?
The nearest gas stations are in Smoky Lake & Andrew, AB.
Is transportation available?
Transportation is available via ground or air from the Edmonton International Airport or other destinations in the region.

Yes, you can dine in the Bistro without a reservation.
Can we come walk around the grounds?
Yes, you’re welcome to walk around the grounds, and there’s no admission fee.

Can we stay in the Sky Viewing Domes/Cabins in the winter?
Yes, you can stay in the Sky Viewing Domes and Cabins in the winter. However, for the safety and comfort of our guests, the Sky Watching Domes are unavailable when temperatures reach -25°C or lower.
Do the campgrounds have running water, power, showers, outdoor washrooms, or wood?
The tent campsites don’t have running water, but showers and indoor plumbing washrooms are available. Wood is available for purchase at the front desk. If you require power for your RV site, please inquire with the front desk reception when making your booking.
Can we dispose of RV waste?
There is no pump station at Métis Crossing, but one is located in Smoky Lake, about 10 minutes away.
Does bedding come with the Sky Viewing Domes, Sky Viewing Cabins, or trapper's tents?
Bedding is provided for all Sky Viewing Domes and Cabins. For the trapper’s tents, you’ll need to bring your own bedding, though a cot is provided.
Is there a kitchen in the rooms, Sky Viewing Domes, or Sky Viewing Cabins?
The Sky Viewing Domes and Cabins have a mini kitchenette with a sink, microwave, mini-fridge, and kettle. The Lodge rooms come with a mini fridge.
Is there Wi-Fi or cell service available at Métis Crossing?
Free Wi-Fi is available for guests upon check-in. Cell service is not available in the area due to the tranquility of the site, but you can turn on Wi-Fi calling.
