Day one of your experience begins with arriving at our cultural destination and checking into your spacious and comfortable accommodation option. The suite features an in-suite patio with breathtaking views of the Heritage North Saskatchewan River.
Meet the Métis – Signature Experience
Embark on a transformative journey through Meet the Métis, the signature experience that inspires, educates, and forges lasting connections with the vibrant spirit of Métis culture. Led by our knowledgeable Métis interpreters, this one-of-a-kind immersive introduction to Métis Crossing will take you on a journey through the history, traditions, and river-lot life of the Métis people.
Métis Dining Experience
Indulge in the Métis Dining Experience, a delightful culinary experience that celebrates the richness and diversity of the Métis culture. Guests will be treated to a delicious three-course meal carefully prepared using locally sourced ingredients.

Tales from Trapline – Signature Experience
Join us for the immersive Indigenous experience “Tales from the Trapline” as part of our winter package! Guided by a knowledgeable Métis Interpreter, this journey provides participants with the opportunity to explore the cultural significance of life on the land and the traditional Métis way of life.
During this adventure, you’ll gain insights into Métis trap per traditions and the valuable land-based knowledge passed down through generations. We will put on a traditional Métis Capote and snowshoes to venture into the great outdoors, immersing ourselves in the sight sounds, and scents of the natural world.
You’ll learn how to set snares and traps and identify animal tracks, as well as practice skills as shelter-building techniques, traditional plant knowledge, and the art of fire building. At the end of the journey, join us for a traditional craft – an activity where you’ll craft your own souvenir.
Lunch
Indulge on our Métis inspired lunch while enjoying the scenic views of Heritage North Saskatchewan River in the Restaurant at the Cultural Gathering Centre.
Vision, Hopes, and Dreams at Métis Crossing Wildlife Tour – Signature Experience
Join us for an immersive guided tour showcasing the rich culture and traditions of the Métis community. Our knowledgeable Métis Interpreter will accompany you on an SUV tour to the paddocks, where you can immerse yourself in the breathtaking natural beauty of the Métis heritage species, including the rare white bison and elk, woods bison, plains bison, and majestic Percheron horses. Throughout this journey, you will gain an understanding of the interconnected nature of relationships, communities, and natural systems in Métis Culture, as well as the significant role of bison in Métis heritage.

Walking the Trails/ Self Exploration
Taking in some fresh air before heading back and exploring the nearly 10 km of cross country skiing and walking trails at Métis Crossing is a fantastic way to wrap up your package experience. Nestled within the National Historic Site of Canada and along the Historic Victoria Trail, this picturesque site is enveloped by a myriad of trails, pristine boreal forests and stunning valley vistas.
Don’t forget to explore our Cultural Centre with interactive displays, historical artifacts and one of a kind Gift Shop, where you can browse a range of Métis and locally crafted items.
Location: Situated on the banks of the Heritage North Saskatchewan River, Métis Crossing is conveniently located just a 90-minute drive from Edmonton and a short 10-minute drive from the town of Smoky Lake.
Note: The package price is based on double occupancy, with two people sharing a room. Transportation is available via ground or air from the Edmonton International Airport or other destinations in the region.
