    Attention Visitors: Métis Crossing Temporary Closure

    Métis Crossing is committed to providing our visitors and staff with a safe place to visit and work. In accordance with the Government of Alberta’s new mandatory COVID19 measures, limiting gatherings to 15 people, Métis Crossing will be closing our facility to public visitors until January 31st. Métis Crossing is built on the values of the Métis people, including community and resilience. In the spirit of these values we are committed to doing everything in our power to keep our guests, staff, and wider community safe and healthy. We are equally committed to reopening, when it is safe to do so, continuing to share our distinct Indigenous story. We are proud to do our part to keep our community safe, and we look forward to welcoming you again soon.

    Purpose

    Métis Crossing is a center for Métis cultural interpretation, education, gatherings and business development. This document has been developed to support Métis Crossing in reducing the risk of transmission of Covid-19 among staff, volunteers, and visitors.

    Overview

    Collective efforts of physical/social distancing, increased hygiene, and cleaning practices are working to slow the spread of the novel coronavirus which causes COVID-19 infections. The government of Alberta has announced the gradual and phased re-launch of the province. To be successful, businesses and organizations are mandated to take continued steps to ensure the safety of their staff and patrons.

    Métis Crossing, as a premier centre for Alberta Métis cultural interpretation, education, gatherings, and business development has one main goal with this strategy:

    Ensuring that the health and safety of staff and visitors is top priority.

    To achieve this, Métis Crossing will follow all public health orders/measures outlined by the province of Alberta and the Métis Nation of Alberta.

    This includes:

    • Communication related to Covid-19;
    • Procedures for Staff or Visitors who are sick, visiting, or camping;
    • Prevention measures (including screening, hygiene, cleaning, capacity of areas and physical distancing measures, and essential infrastructure to minimize transmission etc.)

    ALBERTA’S RELAUNCH STRATEGY

    Métis Crossing is adhering to the staged relaunch guidelines provided by the Province of Alberta. This relaunch can be found at: https://www.alberta.ca/external/covid19-alberta-relaunch-strategy.pdf

    Highlights of this strategy are included below. Table 1 includes stage highlights while table 2 provides an overview of the public health measures associated with each stage. It is important to note that Métis Crossing is incorporating an evidence-based approach
    into best practices for the operation of the site.
