Book Your Spot Today – Métis Crossing Opens Reservations For 2021 Camping Season!
May 08, 2021

Métis Crossing, Alberta’s first major Métis cultural interpretive destination, has begun accepting reservations for their on-site campground! Amid the COVID19 pandemic and continued travel restrictions, Métis Crossing anticipates a sold-out season for the campground, which includes RV sites, tent sites and comfort camping in traditional Trappers Tents.

“Métis Crossing offers campers more than just a place to spend the night. Visitors are just steps away from the largest Métis interpretive experience in the province, with opportunities for learning and hands-on activities,” said Juanita Marois, Executive Director, Métis Crossing. “Métis Crossing welcomes everyone and it has something for everyone. Whether you are a family with young kids looking for a safe, meaningful, outdoor experience, or you are searching-out your next interpretive historical experience, Métis Crossing is for you.”

Métis Crossing offers 21, 30-amp power sites, and additional tent sites in the trees, located on a traditional Métis river lot overlooking the banks of the North Saskatchewan River. In addition to conventional camping sites, Métis Crossing offers limited comfort camping, in traditional Trappers Tents. The comfort camping option is a hassle-free way to spend time outdoors while experiencing Métis culture.

While staying at the Métis Crossing campground, visitors will be located just a short walk from the award-winning Métis Crossing Cultural Gathering Centre, the traditional village, and new in 2021, the Métis farmyard. Subject to COVID19 restrictions, guests will also have the opportunity to participate in Signature Experiences, such as the Walk in Our Mocs archery program.

“We know Albertans are looking to explore their own backyard this summer. Métis Crossing is the perfect road trip destination for an atypical overnight experience, just a short drive from Edmonton,” added Sherry Honey, Métis Crossing Sales Coordinator.

Coming in Fall 2021, located directly adjacent to the Métis Crossing Cultural Gathering Centre, our 40-room boutique lodge offers scenic views overlooking the majestic North Saskatchewan River, the very route used by our Métis ancestors as they gathered at this very spot. With its unique design that combines both traditional and contemporary Métis craftmanship, The Lodge at Métis Crossing is a special blend of comfort, culture and Métis history!

Métis Crossing is located next to the North Saskatchewan River approximately ten minutes South of Smoky Lake, with quick access to highway 855. The Métis Crossing campground will be implementing all Alberta Parks Summer 2021 guidelines and safety measures, learn more here: https://metiscrossing.com/camping-policies/
