About Métis Crossing

Our Distinct Indigenous Story

Métis Crossing is the first major Métis cultural interpretive centre in Alberta and is a premier centre for Alberta Métis cultural interpretation, education, gatherings, and business development.

We are equipped to host large gatherings and intimate tours. Open for guests year-round from all over the world.

Sitting on 512-acres of land, comprised of river lot titles from the original Métis settlers to the region in the late 1800s, the crossing is designed to engage and excite visitors through an exploration of Métis cultural experiences.

Métis Crossing strives to represent and share elements of Métis culture; pride of culture and respect (with self-identification), family reconnection and reconciliation, sacredness of place and empathy and acknowledgement.

Our Cultural Gathering Centre is Brand New

Building was complete in 2020 and our Cultural Gathering Centre is ready to host you.

The new Cultural Gathering Centre is designed by Métis Architect Tiffany Shaw-Collinge from Manasc Isaac Architects. The new Centre incorporates traditional craftsmanship with modern materials to create a stunning structure that hints at the building style of the fur trade era river lot homes with the functionality of a contemporary place to gather, learn, and share the Métis story.

Beginning spring 2020, at our café, guests will be able to enjoy everything from a quick lunch to a uniquely delightful dinner experience, to a full-service banquet – all with flavours coming from the lands in and around Métis Crossing.

Our future is bright. We will be continuing to expand into our space throughout the coming years as we offer additional ways to experience, stay, and dine at our destination.
